I recently had to amend my return due to a W2-C. The change to my return reflected a lower AGI. While processing the changes in Turbo Tax it originally was showing me to receive an additional refund on my federal return of $1124.00 however, before I was done processing the amount went away and back to $0. I did not think much of it until, I was printing the return to mail in and that's when I noticed line 17 (Refund amount Owed to you) had changed. When I originally filed my tax return, earlier in the year I received a refund of $7106.00 the amended return is now showing that I originally received a refund in the amount of $8230.00 doing the math this is the $1124.00 it had showed me to receive but disappeared before me completing the return. What caused this change? How do I correct it? and Should I be receiving the $1124.00 refund. Thanks!
Sounds like you didn't complete the amended return correctly ... check the 1040X column B ... were there any changes? If there are none you will have to undo the amendment process, undo any changes then only proceed when the column A of the 1040X represents the original return figures as filed.
How do I cancel or undo an amended return in TurboTax Online?
If you started amending your tax return by accident and would like to cancel the amendment:
