Amend taxes for Student loan interest deduction

Looking back at my 2018 taxes I don't see a deduction for student loan interest. Can I amend my 2018 taxes for the student loan interest? I paid $4300 so I qualify for the $2500 deduction.

See this TurboTax support FAQ for amending a 2018 tax return originally completed and filed using TurboTax - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/amending/help/how-do-i-amend-a-return-in-turbotax/01/27579

To enter student loan interest paid -

  • Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
  • Click on Deductions and Credits
  • Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
  • Scroll down to Education
  • On Student Loan Interest Paid (Form 1098-E), click the start or update button

Or enter student loan interest in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to student loan interest

Student Loan Interest Paid is entered on Schedule 1 Line 33.  The total from Schedule 1 Line 36 is subtracted from Form 1040 Line 6 to arrive at the Adjusted Gross Income on Form 1040 Line 7
