I forgot to include some stock transaction 1099 forms for my 2021 tax return.
so I will amend my 2021 tax return.
I am still working on my 2022 tax return and plan to file by Oct 16.
My 2022 return has imported 2021 data(such as capital gain/loss carryover).
Should I amend my 2021 return asap and import the amended return data into my 2022 tax return?
or should I wait until IRS accepts my 2022 return? If I do so, will I need to amend my 2022 return as well?
Thanks!
@uxyania if you have loss carryforwards in 2021, probasbly best to amend before completing 2022. otherwise, the loss carryforward used for the 2022 tax return will be incorrect
if there are no loss carryforwards, it probably doesn't matter which order you do them in.
I amended my tax.
Do I need to attach my 1099 forms that I didn't file for 2021?
But the 8849 forms already have all the data though.

If the Forms 1099 have federal income taxes withheld then include those forms with the amended return. If not, then retain those forms with your tax records in case the IRS every questions your tax return.
