Already filed but RECIEVED a form today

I already filed and I all of a sudden received a 1099-int with a revision date of 10-2013 in the mail today.. I don’t want to amend my taxes and cause an even bigger delay especially since it’s for $33.68. What do I do? Can I amend after I receive my deposit?

OK ...  The IRS paid you interest last year because they took too long to process the return ... so you simply report it in the same place as bank interest ... enter the payer as IRS and the amount.    I highly doubt that small amount of interest will change the bottom line by more than a couple of dollars ... nothing the IRS will need an amended return for so you can skip it.

Yes.  In fact you have to wait for the original return to finish processing and you get the first refund before amending.

revision date of 10-2013. is this correct?  this would seem to indicate it was revised in October 2013. it makes no sense. contact the issuing party.

Exactly that’s what I was thinking…. Issuing party is supposedly the irs… no bank is on it it’s just my info and irs info and it came in mail yesterday and also it says on Irs website that the form number will be on top or bottom corner and this form number is just on the side of paper…

Yeah  that does sound  like IRS interest.   They must have updated and revised their form.  My  old notes say......

IRS interest 1099 form probably only says 1099 (rev. 9-07) on it.  The IRS EIN # on  it is 38-1798424.

Since you don't need an EIN to enter interest it is immaterial...  just choose to "enter it yourself" since it cannot be imported.

The IRS allows for minor errors without sending out a notice. However, if you do not amend your return you may receive a Notice CP2000.  The IRS will generally recalculate the amount of tax you owe and send you a bill for the difference.
