Already eFiled 2021 1040 with Turbo Tax, but owe IRS

I can't seem to find a definitive answer on either Turbo Tax or IRS sites for:

  • I've already efiled my 1040 using Turbo Tax, but I owe a small balance that I did NOT pay electronically when I filed because the fee to pay was more than the amount I owe.
  • I've received confirmation from Turbo Tax that the IRS accepted my return
  • Turbo Tax instructions say there's no fee if I mail the Form 1040-v (voucher) with a check to the proper IRS collection site for my state BEFORE the April 15 deadline.  Turbo Tax does NOT mention any other attachments are needed.
  • IRS instructions, however, say to mail a

    copy of the tax return

WITH THE VOUCHER.  This seems to be just a general instruction for all people MAILING their returns in.  I could not find a specific instruction for what eFilers that don't pay electronically should do.

I thought about including a copy of the email from Turbo Tax that says my tax return was accepted by the IRS??  I'd prefer not to include unneeded attachments, as I know the IRS isn't happy when you do that.  I also don't want them to impose a penalty for not including all the information they require.  Any suggestions?

If you already e-filed your tax return you do not need to mail in a copy of the tax return.   You can simply mail the 1040V with your check or money order.   I suggest using certified mail so you will know it was received.
