After I file a forgotten w2 from 2016, should I wait to file my 2017 w2 until after I amend the first? Or can I file 2016, then 2017 and send out 1040x in the same day?

I had a 2016 w2 from a prior job come in after I had already filed my 2016 w2 from my current job. Should I wait to file my 2017 w2? Or can I file both in one day and send out the amendment

If the 2016 amendment is only adding the W2, you can file the 1040X and your 2017 tax return at the same time (you can efile your 2017 but you have to use the AGI on the 2016 tax return that was originally filed).

The last part about agi confused me. I'm not too sure what that means. I'm assuming annual gross income. But what does 2016 return have to do with 2017?

Sometimes there are things on 2016 that affect 2017 in which case it is better to wait but not in this case!

Oh okay, so anywhere where it asks me about 2016 I use my original numbers and not the late w2. Got it. Thank you.
