Action required

I done my taxes on January 15th accepted on the 17th.  It showed action required and I called the IRS and they wouldn’t tell me anything until finally someone told me I would be getting a letter.  I received the letter and I had submit my information for my identity.  I’ve never had to do this before.  It said too check back in 2-3 weeks.  How long does it usually take get accepted or another letter.

Sorry---you just have to wait it out.   TurboTax gets no information from the IRS after you file your tax return.   It is not uncommon to get a request to verify your identity especially when you file early.  You can watch the IRS refund site for information.   If they request any additional information provide it promptly.

Sometimes the IRS chooses returns randomly to request verification of identity and sometimes there is something on the return that triggers the request.  No matter why the IRS has required you to verify your identity, you need to follow their instructions in order to receive your refund.  If you do not verify your identity you will not get your refund.

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2024 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:
