Accepted 1040 Missing Refund Info (Line 35a Blank) Despite Withholding — IRS Says I Owe

Hi, I e-filed my 2024 federal return through TurboTax, and it was marked accepted by the IRS on March 6. TurboTax originally showed I would get a $79 refund, but when I checked the final Form 1040 that was submitted:

  • Line 25a (W-2 Federal Withholding) is blank

  • Lines 34–36 (refund and applied credit) are also blank

  • When navigate to the support/chat section, the bot tell me that the IRS says I owe $11

However, my actual W-2 shows federal income tax withheld (Box 2 = $156), which I believe I entered correctly during filing.

Why didn’t TurboTax include that in the final return sent to the IRS?
Do I need to amend with Form 1040-X, or was this a TurboTax software issue?

Thanks in advance, this is very frustrating and confusing.

If the withholding is not included on line 25a of your return, then you should go back to the return and amend it.  Make the change to your W2 form to include the withholding that is missing.
