9 months waiting for info on an amended return

Amended return for tax year 2021 received by irs May 2nd 2024 its now January 2025 and there has been no movement , in fact the “wheres my” tool says  “your amended return was received 5/2/24 , However it has not been processed, We apologize for any inconvenience”

ends with a generic help number for a department that cant help and says wait 30 more days everytime you call.

Now I obtained a tax advocate , a few weeks has past and nothing has changed. No movement no change in transcript or any change anywhere

Soon it will be a year, I had surgery, Im a renter and I fell behind, I been promising my landlord this potential money for months now, I have to move now, It really would have helped if my own government agency could have at least given me real information

instead of run around BS , its like dealing with a bad company that wont give a refund. Its actually worse ..

its not 100% their fault but I believed them the 5 times they said it should be within 30 days, it just doesn’t help getting bad info

Has anyone had a similar experience with a similar time frame

I dont think its ever going to be processed,

I likely will have my 2024 return by end of February and still be waiting for this 2021 credit. Its just inexcusable. They should at least tell me if its been approved or not , if they adjusted or not, or maybe how much it is  ir isnt  Any help would help …Im lost

You will need to contact the IRS for information. It might be easiest to set up an account with them.

IRS Individual Online Account

  • Taxpayers with a Social Security number or an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number can create or access their IRS Individual Online Account to get information they need to file their return.
  • With an IRS Individual Online Account, people can:
  • View balance owed, payment history and schedule payments.
  • Cancel scheduled payments.
  • Get transcripts.
  • View or create payment plans.
  • See digital copies of some IRS notices.
  • View key data from their most recently filed tax return, including adjusted gross income.
  • Validate bank accounts and save multiple accounts, eliminating the need to re-enter bank account information every time they make a payment.
  • View, approve and electronically sign power of attorney and tax information authorizations from their tax professional.
