I posted 709 form gift tax return on April 8th with certified mail. I just checked via USPS tracking which shows that it has not left the post office from the location I had posted it from. I called USPS. The first representative said that IRS forms are not being scanned this year and that I should not worry. The 2nd representative opened a case and investigation has started. Please advise if I should send another copy of the form, the certified mail receipt and USPS tracking along with a letter to the IRS that I am re-sending the form as it did not reach earlier, or if that will cause any confusion. Thank you.
