2018 Taxes are missing. Had filed an extension.

I prepared my 2018 taxes in April of this year (2019) and filed an extension. I just came back to file my return before Oct. 15th, and my return is GONE. Where is it?

That's common to end up with multiple accounts. First LOG OUT of whatever TurboTax account you're logged into right now. Then use this TurboTax account recovery website to get a list of user ID's for an email address. Run the tool against any email addresses you may have used

If you used the Desktop CD/Download program then the only copy is on your computer and not saved or stored online.

I've already thought of that. The account I definitely used no longer has my return, and the old account I used to use (which I reset just to be sure) also does not have my 2018 return. I am starting to get the feeling I am going to have to start completely over on my taxes.

Did you have any luck finding yours?  The same thing just happened to me.  Turbotax updated yesterday, and my 2018 tax file is GONE!

Are you using the downloaded version where there are updates ?   Did Win 10 do an update ?

Here is the update of my update disaster...

During a TurboTax update on Saturday (3 days before due date), my tax file disappeared.  After 4 hours of working with tech support to find it, I found other forum entries where people had found their tax file in their recycle bin or in random program files after a June 2019 update.  We are guessing that mine was sent to my recycle bin, and since I didn't even know it was missing, I was an idiot and cleared my recycle bin while cleaning up my desktop.  I had to completely redo my taxes over the last couple of days.  UGH!  I really hope this doesn't happen to anyone else!

In case it helps you help others... only my TurboTax updated, not Windows.  I am running Windows 10.  And I hit the trifecta... TurboTax deleted my tax file, Norton failed to backup properly, and my hubby had put the wrong tax file in our Dropbox backup.  The computer is having a laugh!

Mine is the online version. I not only did my taxes in the the online version in April, I filed an extension. EVERYTHING is gone. I now have to sit tonight and redo my taxes from scratch.
