2018 FEIE - How much was the right amount owed?

Bottom Line, I paid $1,475 in Federal Taxes Owes (Received a Refund of $296 from the State of Maryland).

Now, in Detail:

I worked in the US from 1/1/18 to 6/22/18 paying taxes (1 FED EXM, 1 ST EXM). I arrived in South Korea on 6/23/18. By November, I was paying taxes again, after being notified by my employer that the FEIE limit has been reached. So: Taxes Paid (January - June, November, December); Taxes Unpaid (July - October).

On 3/16/19, I filed an extension and paid the owed amount of $1,475. On 6/27/19, I filed the taxes.

I made the mistake of not including the qualified housing cost. After meeting the Physical Presence Test in May of 2019, my exclusion amount would have been $5,356.

I believe, by the time that I filed the taxes in June 2019, I should have received a refund for the amount I paid in March 2018. Can I please have my line of thoughts verified?

If I am correct, how do I go about amending my 2018 taxes? I missed the exclusion in the FEIE form, not the 1040. Also, I did NOT file via TurboTax, so I cannot amend it using the software.

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated!

You will need to amend your 2018 tax return to include foreign housing exclusion before you will receive any refund.  The IRS has to have an amended return from you showing the proper housing exclusion before it will adjust your account..
