1099-div for 2016 shows lots of entries for the year..can I just list the totals.

there are 43 entries...

Your 1099-DIV from brokers usually have several sections. The first part is the Summary Information and that's what you fill out on the 1099-DIV worksheet. It lists the ordinary dividends on line 1a and the qualified dividends on liine 1b and so on. You don't have to list the details that make up the totals. Just input what is on lines 1-11, although most lines will be blank. Hope this helps.
