When will I receive the individual tax documents needed to prepare my return?

Most of the documents you'll need to file your return will arrive by the end of January. Check the calendar below for estimated timelines to receive a specific tax form. If you're not sure which forms you need when preparing your return in TurboTax, we'll ask you simple questions and guide you through filing your return.

To view or download blank copies of tax forms, visit the IRS Forms, Instructions, and Publications page. You can search for specific forms and see the date they were last revised.

Accessible year-round

  • Get Started documents (prior year 1040, proof of identity)

  • Personal identifiable info, marital status, and any dependents (prior year 1040, proof of identity, Social Security number)

  • Wage withholdings (W-4)

  • Bank statements

  • Estimated tax paid

  • Records kept for rentals, businesses, and farms (Profit & Loss Statement)

  • Records of charitable donations

  • Records of home and family expenses (such as child care)

  • Vehicle license and registration fees

By January 31, 2026

  • Wages (W-2)

  • Unemployment (1099-G)

  • Self-employment (1099-K, 1099-NEC [1099-MISC to be available mid-season])

  • Non-employee compensation (1099-NEC)

  • Bank account interest (1099-INT)

  • Canceled debt (1099-A, 1099-C)

  • Dividend income (1099-DIV)

  • Retirement income (1099-R)

  • Social Security income (SSA-1099 or 1099-RRB)

  • Rental property income (1099-K [1099-MISC to be available mid-season])

  • Farm income and farm rental (1099-K, 1099-NEC [1099-MISC to be available mid-season])

  • Health Insurance Marketplace (1095-A)

  • Health or medical savings account(1099-SA)

  • Mortgage interest (1098)

  • Education expenses (1098-T)

  • Student loan interest (1098-E)

  • Qualified tuition programs (1099-Q)

  • State and local tax refund, government payments (1099-G)

  • Electronic payment transactions (1099-K)

  • Gambling winnings (W-2G or Win/Loss Statement)

By February 15, 2026

  • Self-employment (1099-MISC)

  • Cryptocurrency sales (.csv, 1099-B, 1099-MISC)

  • Employee stock sales (1099-B, 3922)

  • Property sales (1099-S or Escrow)

  • Rental property income (1099-MISC)

  • Farm income and farm rental (1099-MISC)

  • Original issue discount income (1099-OID)

  • Contracts and straddles (1099-B)

  • Miscellaneous income (1099-MISC)

Between March 15 and April 15, 2026

  • Real estate mortgage investment conduits (Schedule Q)

  • S corporations, partnerships, and trusts (K-1)

  • Undistributed capital gains (2439)
