Form 5498-SA is for informational purposes only, so you don’t need to enter it into TurboTax.
The 5498-SA reports contributions to:
- Health Savings Accounts (HSA)
- Archer Medical Savings Accounts (MSA)
- Medicare Advantage Medical Savings Accounts
If you contributed to one of these accounts separate from company contributions, refer to the following instructions to enter them into TurboTax:
Note: If your TurboTax looks different from what’s described here, learn more.
- Go to the Deductions & Credits section under the Federal heading.
- Scroll down to the Medical section, then select Start next to HSA, MSA Contributions.
- Select your type of account on the next screen, then select Continue.
- Answer Yes or No to Did you use your Health Savings Account (HSA) to pay for anything in 2023?
- Enter the information from your 1099-SA, then select Continue.
- Progress through the remaining screens until all your information has been completed.
We recommend that you keep your Form 5498-SA with your tax records.
