Entering box 12 information on your W-2

Box 12 on your W-2 reports capital letter codes and amounts that tell the IRS where that money from your paycheck went.

Whether you’re entering your W-2 on your own or reviewing one you imported, just focus on the upper case letter code and the amount listed next to it. The lowercase letters don’t need to be entered in TurboTax.

If you have multiple box 12 items on your W-2, select "Add new box 12 item," the capital letter code, and enter the amount. And if you used TurboTax last year, some codes might be carried over. If they’re not on your W-2 this year, select the trash can to delete them.
