Why is TurboTax having me file a New Hampshire state return I don’t need?

Some TurboTax customers may be prompted to file a New Hampshire state return when they’re not required to file one. This is a known issue we’re working to fix.

If you aren’t required to file a New Hampshire return, you can remove it before you check out. Deleting the state return will also remove the charge from your cart.

How to remove the New Hampshire return

  • Select State from the left menu.

  • Continue until you reach the Status of your state returns screen.

  • Select the trash can icon next to New Hampshire.

  • A confirmation pop-up will appear. Select Delete to remove the state return from your cart.

  • Continue with your federal filing or any other state returns.
