How do I enter my crypto in TurboTax?
There are three ways to enter your crypto in TurboTax:
- Sign in to TurboTax Online, and open or continue your return.
- Select Search then search for cryptocurrency.
- Select jump to cryptocurrency.
- On the Did you have investment income in 2023? screen, select Yes.
- Select +Add investments if you've already added some investment income info.
- On the Let’s import your tax info screen, search for and select your crypto exchange.
- Follow the on-screen instructions closely. You'll have to sign in to your exchange account to import your transactions.
- If your exchange doesn't support importing, you can add your transactions by uploading a CSV.
- Note: Imports can take up to 3 minutes to complete.
- We'll ask you a few more questions before taking you to the investment overview screen. Select Review to go over the imported info and verify that it's accurate.
- Sign in to TurboTax, and open or continue your return.
- Select Search then search for cryptocurrency.
- Select jump to cryptocurrency.
- On the Did you have investment income in 2023? screen, select Yes.
- Select +Add investments if you've already added some investment income info.
- On the Let’s import your tax info screen, select Enter a different way.
- On the OK, let's start with one investment type screen, select Cryptocurrency and Continue.
- Select Type it in myself on the Select your crypto experience screen.
- Answer the questions and continue through the screens. We’ll walk you through entering your sales.
- Open TurboTax and open your return.
- Go to Federal Taxes, then Wages & Income.
- On the Your 2023 Income Summary screen, under Investment Income, select Start or Update next to Stocks, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other.
- On the Did you sell any investments in 2023? screen, select Yes.
- Answer the questions and continue through the screens.
