How do I extract my 1099-DA from my consolidated 1099 statement?
If you are a digital asset investor, then you may have received a 1099-DA form from your broker. The 1099-DA form may be its own unique form, or it may be embedded in a document with other forms. These forms may be referred to as a consolidated statement or composite form. For Robinhood customers, this is your Consolidated 1099s.
After uploading a consolidated statement or composite form to TurboTax, make sure to check that your 1099-DA was extracted and applied to your return. If your 1099-DA was not applied, then follow these steps:
1. Generate a new PDF form with the 1099-DA information from your consolidated statement or composite form
Method 1: Print to PDF (built-in browser/PDF viewer)
This works on both Windows and Mac without extra software.
Open the PDF in your browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari) or a PDF reader.
Select the Print icon or press Ctrl+P (Windows) / Cmd+P (Mac).
Select Microsoft Print to PDF or Save as PDF as the printer.
Under Pages, select Custom or Range and enter the specific pages you want (for example 1–3, 5, 8–10).
Select Print and save the new file.
Method 2: Adobe Acrobat Online
Go to the Adobe Acrobat Online tool to extract pages.
Upload your PDF.
Select the pages or ranges you want to extract.
Select Extract.
Download the new PDF file.
Method 3: Mac Preview App
Open the PDF in Preview.
Open the thumbnail sidebar and select the pages you want to keep (use Cmd to select non-consecutive pages).
Under File, select Print.
Check the Selected Pages in Sidebar box.
Under PDF, select Save as PDF.
Method 4: Professional PDF Software (e.g., Acrobat Pro)
Open the PDF in Adobe Acrobat.
Choose the Organize Pages tool.
Select the pages you want to extract.
Select Extract from the menu and save the new file.
2. Upload the new 1099-DA form into TurboTax
Go to investment income under under Wages & Income.
Select Add investments.
On the Save time and connect your financial accounts screen, select Enter a different way.
Choose Upload and Continue.
Upload your new 1099-DA form.
