How do I amend my 2023 Georgia state tax return to correct Retirement Exclusion?
by TurboTax•4• Updated 6 months ago
Due to a TurboTax error, some Georgia customers received too much Retirement Exclusion on their state tax return. As a result, these customers underpaid their state tax liability.
If we notified you, we recommend you submit an amended state tax return as soon as possible to avoid additional penalties and interest on the unpaid balance.
To correct your return, please follow the steps below.
- Use TurboTax to amend your state tax return.
- Enter “TO CORRECT RETIREMENT EXCLUSION” as the reason for amending.
- Follow the instructions provided by TurboTax to efile or mail in the amended state tax return along with payment of the balance due.
- Save a copy of your amended state tax return for your records.
If you have questions, call 844-333-2161 (Monday–Friday, 8 AM to 8 PM ET) to speak with a specialist. Mention 2023 Georgia Spouse Retirement Exclusion so they know what you’re calling about.
