How do I amend my 2023 Alabama state tax return to correct Medicaid Waiver Payments?
by TurboTax•1• Updated 5 months ago
Due to a TurboTax error, some Alabama customers didn't include Medicaid Waiver Payments as part of their state taxable income. As a result, these customers underpaid their state taxes.
If we notified you, we recommend you submit an amended state tax return as soon as possible to avoid additional penalties and interest on the unpaid balance.
To correct your return, please follow the steps below.
- Use TurboTax to amend your state tax return.
- Enter “TO CORRECT TAXABLE INCOME” as the reason for amending.
- Follow the instructions provided by TurboTax to print, sign, date, and mail the amended state tax return along with the balance due.
- Save a copy of your amended state tax return for your records.
If you have questions, call 844-333-2161 (Monday–Friday, 7 AM to 7 PM CT) to speak with a specialist. Mention 2023 Alabama Medicaid Waiver Payments so they know what you’re calling about.
