Write off for Mechanics tools

I am a auto mechanic and i work for a auto dealership. Can i deduct any part of the money i spend on tools since the dealership does  not provide tools?

It depends. If you're an employee and you receive a W-2, you can't deduct what you spent for supplies on your federal return. You may be able to deduct on your state return, depending on the state and whether you can itemize.

If you're a contractor and you receive a 1099, you can deduct the cost of your tools on your Schedule C.
