My wife died in May of 2018. I filed 2018 as married filing jointly. This year i know I have to file as single (no dependent) but turbo tax will not allow a death date of my wife in 2018. It requires a 2019 date.

I'm sorry for your loss, but your wife should no longer be on your 2019 tax return.
