You are using the TurboTax Deluxe version, which is an upgrade from the free version of TurboTax. This is why your fees are higher than expected. You can downgrade and go back to the free version of TurboTax by following the instructions below. Please note the free version does have a charge of $39.99 for the state tax return, and also you will have to start your return from scratch if you downgrade and start over.
