Why am i getting charged a bank refund processing fee

If I change to a paper check instead of my bank is there a processing fee?

If you choose to deduct the TurboTax fees from your refund, there is a $34.99 Refund Processing Fee for that service, since an intermediary bank has to intercept your refund from the IRS, deduct the TurboTax fees, and then forward the balance to your bank. The bank charges for that service.

It's not how you get your refund but how you pay the fees for Turbo Tax.  You can still get a direct deposit and not pay the Refund Processing Service charge.  That is only to deduct the fees from your refund.

You can pay the fees upfront first with a credit card to avoid the extra charge.  Here's how to remove it,
