You can answer NO there, even though you do have Self Employment income to enter.   You should be able to enter SE income in the Deluxe version, but if you need to deduct any expenses, you will need to upgrade to the Premium version.   I think that is why TurboTax is not cooperating with you at the moment.

You can click Start next to Self-Employment Income in the Wages and Income section, or search for Sch C to be taken to that section.

Hello and thank you for your reply, DawnC! Still getting the same error message. Once I click the Yes button on the page about adding Self-Employment income, it gives me this page. I have upgraded my product and even then, still get this message.  Have cleared browser history and changed browsers and even tried on another computer.

Help!

Thanks a lot.

If you keep receiving this message, it may be best to clear and start over. Sometimes starting fresh may clear up some of the cobwebs that sometimes become persistent in the program.

  1. Go to Tax Tools
  2. Tools
  3. Clear and Start over

Yep, tried that too, which is sort of an infuriating "solution," isn't it?

Especially since that did not fix the problem. We kept running into the same scenario.

I ended up using a different company to file my taxes this year. Spending 3 hours going in circles with technology only to not have made progress on one's taxes, which are hard enough as they are, well, it just wasn't worth it to keep trying. That's my suggestion to anyone in this scenario.
