W2 with a Blank Box 1

Hi. I recieved a 2024 W2 from an employer I reitred from in 2023, with $500 in Boz 12a with Code W.  a small amount of state and local tax was taken out.I've entered it correctly. I was on COBRA for 1/2 of 2024 so I think it was the employer contribution to an HSA. TurboTax flags it in the error check and then states that with no entry in box 1 e-file is not allowed an the forms will need to be mailed in. Is this an error with TT?  I did see in a forum someone suggested just putting $1 in for Box 1 and that will allow e-file, but I know that is not the value submitted to the IRS. Any advice? Thx! Ed

No, it isn't an error with TurboTax.  When there's a zero in box 1 of your W-2, you can’t e-file your return.  Refer to the TurboTax Help article Why can't I e-file my return?

You will have to mail your return.  Refer to the IRS website Where to file paper tax returns with or without a payment?

To find out the address to mail your state return you need to check your State Department of Revenue website to get the address. Refer to the TurboTax Help article How do I contact my state's Department of Revenue?  and select your state.
