W2 employer address has mailstop

Hello, I just received a w2 from Social Security Admin. It has employer address as pobox and mailstop 26XX and thats it. It does not have city state and zip code. The turbotax online is flagging this as review.

What should I do?

No.  That is not a W-2.  Social Security sends you a SSA1099.

Do not try to enter your SSA1099  or RR1099RB as a W-2.  Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security  (SSA1099 and 1099RRB) to enter your SSA1099.

This is not 1099. I work for Social Security Administration. I have recently started working for them. I received W 2 because SSA is my employer. The employer sections has address :

SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION

PO BOX 272030

MAIL STOP D-2613

It does not have city state zip. I will eventually ask HR for clarification. Turbotax is flagging this as not having those fields empty.

@Aneel Well----you are different!   Okay......a W-2 from SS makes sense if you work for SSA!  Ask them about that address.  Not sure what will make the software happy.

Check in Employee Express; I had the same problem - the address is cut off on the PDF W2

If you received a Form W-2 from Social Security Admin implies you are an employee. If so, you can contact Social Security Admin and ask for their mailing address. To change your W-2 input follow these steps:

  • Open or continue your return. from the menu, select Search and type in W-2.
  • Select the Jump to link in the search results.
  • On the Your W-2 info so far screen,
  • select Edit next to the W-2 you want to change

If you did receive a Form SSA-1099 and not a W-2, please follow the steps outlined by xmasbabyO.
