W-2

The W-2 I'm working off of doesn't have a box F, a box D and some other things are in the wrong space as far as I can tell. Does it change anything as long as I enter the correct info. Does an employers control number change? I have it from the previous year, but It's not on the year I'm looking at right now. I should add that I'm doing back taxes at the moment. 2017-2019

I'm so confused!

You should enter the W2 information exactly as shown.  However, Box F for employees address, state and zip should be entered as your current address if this has changed from prior years.

Box D Control number is not relevant to IRS filing so do not worry with that. It is really just used for importing the W2.  The control may change and in fact it probably should, for data security reasons. However, the actual Control Number assigned for your W-2 in any given year is up to the discretion of your employer's payroll department or payroll outsourcing firm.
