TurboTax is Getting Expense .

This is getting expensive, bought Basic Version $40, State $40, and then State Filing Fee $20. Why $100 if basic filing is free. The nickel and dime of it all is stupid, why can't you bundle the experience into one final payment instead of three separate payments.

Hate having to make three payments just to finalize my return.

The desktop  Basic is cheaper because it does not include state *software* .  It is intended for taxpayers that do not need a state.

The state software is only the software and does not include free e-file which is extra.   Deluxe does come with one free state *software* download - e-file is extra.   You can print and mail the state for the price of a stamp.  That is intentional because many taxpayer prefer to mail and do not want to be charged for an e-file they do  not need.
