TurboTax 2018 Updater doesn't support Windows proxy settings

Hi,

The TurboTax 2018 updater is not respecting Windows proxy settings.  We can see the initial update requests go to the proxy, but those requests result in 302 return codes (website temporarily moved).

Then no further requests are made through the proxy:  The updater tries to go direct to subsequent URL's which get blocked by our network (since it enforces proxy use).  The user then gets error 42002 (Could not connect to the update site).

This is new behavior in the 2018 product.  Previous years worked fine through the proxy.

Thanks Carl.  Those are the standard ports, so no issue there.

The problem is that the updater fails to make subsequent requests to the proxy after it gets the first redirect.

It's definitely a bug in the updater this year.  Wish there was some official channel to report this to Intuit!

Thanks for your comment dmertz.  We had tried that method as a bypass for the updater bug.

It worked for the federal product, but it did not work for the state product.  It would be better for Intuit to repair the updater so that it respects proxy settings!
