Turbo Tax software performance on Mac

I have a new MacBook Pro, with 10 Cores, 64 G ram and 4 TB hard drive.  I could run this machine as a server for a company.  Yet - Turbo tax performs as poorly as any software I have ever used on my Mac.  Why is this?   Why should I be surprised your updates work or I'm able to use the software at all?  Why all the delays to launch or display the opening dialogs?  I believe you are using some very poor performing emulators to allow you to only need a single code base for your application.   Clearly, any MS Windows users would accept this poor performance because the MS Windows API's perform very poorly overall.  For Mac Users however we have an expectation of not waiting a long time for our applications to even launch - it quite frankly ridiculous that this is the best you can do for software that runs on what would be considered a power users hardware platform.  So - my question really is, can you do anything about it?

You might want to contact Support.

What is the TurboTax phone number? (intuit.com)

No phone call is going to make software perform better - they need to open a tech trouble ticket and fix their application.  There is no way anyone outside of Turbo tax can do this

Right now much of the program is unfinished and will not be fully functional  for a while ... once all the forms are ready things usually work better.

@macuser_22   Any ideas ?

My comment was on the 2021 version of TT - I'm not even going to attempt the 2022 version until I absolutely have to....but I have very low expectations

@Critter-3:

Macuser's O/S is older so Macuser is now using a Win version of TurboTax.

Yeah, I'm waiting to load the Desktop/Windows version until later this week to see what they've done this year too.  And I fear some sections will be even slower to access than last year.

The Windows version has shown some very, very, VERY slow access to some modules for the past few years.....usually after some internal menu selection where they apparently did a complete subroutine rewrite in that section....in such a way as a blue circle appears and can take forever to proceed.....where in previous years, the entry to that step was instantaneous.

Some Windows users even found that access to the rewritten menu sections appeared to never load......just an unending rotating blue circle.  Many of us fear that their future plan is to eventually move to Online access only.

My Mac is an older Mac  bur I have not seen delays in launching 2021 (any more than other applications).   Keep in mind that TurboTax always checks with the TurboTax server for updated when opening so there could be a bit of delay there depending on the internet connection and speed.

I need to log another issue w/ Turbo Tax.

They should let anyone with a licensed version of the desktop software the ability to log questions or trouble tickets directly.   Calling a phone number to log a trouble with a piece of software - wow....feels like it's 1990 all over again

What is your "other issue"?   It might be a known problem.  If it is with the 2021 software then it is unlikely to be changed, but if with 2022 then we have access to the moderators who can issue trouble ticket.

Yes, TurboTax Mac has been slow for many years. It's slow to open and slow to operate. Painfully slow! I have been using it for over 20 years on a Mac and the sluggishness never decreases. It takes 60 seconds to open! See screen recording video of opening the application and this is after I already opened and closed it a few second prior so it's already cached.

This is simply a copy and paste of my original note - This is my main issue with Turbo Tax:
