Does the free online turbo tax account not have access to form 8962?

The Free Edition cannot prepare a Form 8962 (Premium Tax Credit).   If using an online product, the paid Deluxe edition or higher is required for that form.

Another option:

The IRS Free File program has 8 partners with free Federal filing (and often with a free state return as well)  if you meet the AGI qualifications.  If you wish, you can pick one and investigate to see if it includes Form 8962 and whether or not your particular state return (if any) is included.

Turns out I do have Deluxe Online Turbo Tax. How do I add or find or fix the 8962 form? Because when I search for it in tools or search or topics, it just redirects me to my 1095-A section, which is already filled out.

 You haven't said where you get the error code.  I don't know if the Form 8962 is the problem, or if there's something wrong with the 1095-A that the Form 8962 doesn't like.  Or are you encountering it when you run a Review/Error check?   I don't have a 1095-A, so I don't have a way to run a scenario.    What happens when you go past the 1095-A Summary, or is that next screen when you get the error?   i.e., try this:

  • Go to left menu column and click TAX TOOLS, then subtab TOOLS.
  • Then in the Tools window choose the blue button TOPIC SEARCH.
  • In the search line enter Premium Tax Credit without quotes.
  • In the selection list highlight Premium Tax Credit and either double-click that or click GO.
  • Does it take you to a 1095-A Summary page?
  • If so, what happens if you click Continue there?  I believe that normally the next screen would lead to info on the Premium Tax Credit, but I don't have any way to check it.

I'm not familiar with the error code you posted.  It must not be very common.    If you don't get more info in this thread from someone, here's how to phone TurboTax Support on Monday.

Support hours are 5AM-5PM Pacific, Monday-Friday.

@turnermatt

I'd also do this:

'Before phoning Support, I'd walk through all the 1095-A screens again to be sure that all the asked-for info was entered and that there were no incorrect entries.

I removed my current entry for 1095-A & re-entered my info and then it worked & updated my taxes due amount from $0 to >$0 and I was able to submit my refiling.

Good news!  Yes, removing a form and re-entering it can sometimes solve pesky problems.  I'm glad you figured it out.  Good luck.
