It's asking me if I took standard deduction or itemized last year. Huh! I just imported last years return to start this years, so why can't it just tell from that? How annoying now to find last years CD, isntall it, and then load last years return to look at it. I didn't save PDF because you don't offer password protected pdfs any more.... very annoyed! Probably switch to another software next year.....
There is nothing in carry over data that indicates the type of deduction from last year.

Good, because your information is inaccurate.
The information is there TT 2019 can read and find it. If there is a dedicated section in the binary file for next year, it can be added very easily.
It's a bit more complicated then simply knowing if you itemized or not. It is if you itemized AND choose to deduct state tax paid as an itemized deductions OR choose to deduct sales tax.
Could it be done - sure. Will it be done - I doubt it very much.
>It's a bit more complicated then simply knowing if you itemized or not...
Apparently not. Because, it figured out what I had done, and only needed to know if I had itemized.
>Will it be done - I doubt it very much.
well, whoever does it will win my business next year :). I have found TT to be getting worse by the year anyways...
