I have been using TT Home Biz 2020 macOS desktop edition for a while and it was working fine. But today when I started up TT tells me I must install updates, and after I clicked on the "Install Updates" button, it started the process of downloading and extracting, then it showed a button "Install and Relaunch. It did something but TT didn't start up by itself.
When I double-clicked the TT 2020 icon, it showed "Install Update" again.
I did this a few times, but it seems I'm in the infinite update loop. Help!
Please see TurboTax for Mac installation troubleshooter for ways to troubleshoot your 2020 desktop software.
I talked to a TT support person and it turned out I had to turn off the Firewall while downloading and installing the update. My friend has a Mac and he didn't need to do that to update the TT. I didn't need to do that until recently. I still don't understand why I have to do it but I do have a solution.
I shut off the firewall and TT 2021 installed and relaunched .... once. When I returned to TT, the same procedure failed and TT would not respond during "Install and Relaunch".
Suggestions?

To Carissa M:
The manual update instruction you directed me to says that it is for Windows and specifically says that it is not available for Mac.
The size of the auto update is the same as I encountered in the 2020 TT program ... I don't think that's a coincidence. The one time I got TT 2021 to open, after passing "install and relaunch", the message was that there are no current updates.
I cannot open TT on my Mac. It insists that I first download an update but then cannot install it and relaunch so I need a work-around to open TT.
