Trade School

If my trade school isn’t accredited can this affect me negatively on my taxes?

Hi @PINKNation  !

 

If your Trade School is an "Eligible Educational Institution" within IRS guidelines, it does not have to be accredited regarding claiming an education credit.

If you otherwise qualify for one of the credits and you receive a 1098-T from them, you are good to go. You can also ask it they are an Eligible Educational Institution, or see if they are listed here:
https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/individuals/earned-income-tax-credit/eligible-educational-inst
