state taxes

filing married jointly.  I lived in CA all year.  My husband moved to oregon april 2023 and established residency in Oct.  How do I file my state taxes?

You will have to file your state taxes MFS. Then you can each be a full time resident of CA and he can be part year in each.  When you complete the My Information section, you can answer those questions, the program will prompt these state returns

As john Dooley mentions for these states (CA and OR) you can file separate state returns even if filing a joint federal return. In TurboTax this is accomplished most easily in a desktop (CD/Download) product.  

 

You can create and file you joint federal return and then create "Mock" federal separate returns for each of you that will flow to your separate state returns all in the same product.  You will need to print/mail the separate state returns since you will not e-file the "Mock" separate federal returns.
