I am getting a “hmm.. looks like we have hit a snag… try later” error for past 2 weeks while trying to download another state for 2024 Premier Windows edition. Called customer support and 45 mins later no solution and disconnected (worst support model). We have uninstalled and installed TT, run it as administrator and cleaned all cookies. Dead end. It all started after TT pushed an update. Anyone else has a solution ? I am disappointed in support and their QA over last few years. Thanks
Have you clicked on Online at the top and Download State? If so, how far do you get before you receive the error?
What state are you trying to download? Here's a list of State Form Availability.
I have desktop premier. I am trying to add/buy a new state (NJ) and the moment I click continue it gives an error. Even before payment info can be entered.
Are you using a VPN? If so, can you try without the VPN; and if you are not using a VPN, can you try with a VPN?
Thanks. But VPN or No VPN makes no difference. It should not anyway. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software twice with no progress. It’s all a dead end. TurboTax tech support is useless.
Same issue - obviously a program bug which keeping returns from being completed. Bad form, TurboTax!
I have the same error in Business trying to get my Massachusetts return. Very frustrating! Have tried all the troubleshooting steps and it is the same. The amount of time I have wasted on this is ridiculous.
TT need to address this in a meaningful way immediately.
Still a problem to down load another state (in this case DC), same error message! today is March 6!
They say it should be fixed by tomorrow March 7. We shall see.
Same error trying to download NY. Spent 45min on phone with TT, no resolution, rep said it was escalated, 10 min later received email stating issue was resolved and closed but no solution given still unable to download!!!
Spent an hour yesterday for same problem with tech support with no resolution. Just tried again today with new updates but still shows same error message. SO FRUSTRATING! Have been using TT almost since it started and this is the first year I have a major problem!
Got relief by insisting to speak with a supervisor who was able to create an offline order enabling payment and downloaded the states I needed using links they provided. Don’t wait for them to fix it since they don’t think it’s a TT issue, or at least not one with a priority huge enough to devote engineer/coding time to fix it.
Can you please reply here with the links they provide please?
Thanks. I was able to call in and a specialist (Melisa) was able to help me. She took my payment by CC and after I paid, I logged into my intuit account and download the state program listed on my purchased products page. Success!! after 3 tries.
Thank you but my issue was resolved per my previous message by Melisa. The issue was with the link from the software to the intuit payment pop up window. The same issue occurred when I try to do state e-file and I had to call turbo tax resolution desk. This latest issue was also resolved by Jacquelyn, a resolution desk supervisor.
The amount of time wasted on this today is unacceptable. Including 2.25 hrs with 100% worthless 'customer support'. We literally made ZERO progress. Mind-blowing the ineptitude. I'll be trying your suggestion tomorrow. I wish they would pay me for the time I've spent just trying to download the software I paid for. And the kicker - when I called, they had zero record of me purchasing their product even though I gave them an order number and it had already been deducted from my bank account. Way to go TT!
Getting the same problem when trying to download a second state... Hummm.. hit a snag.... look i want a fix or please credit my amazon account the price of this software.... this is unacceptable!!!!
The 'hit a snag' error is usually a connectivity issue. When adding a state, you're going to a Billing server to process payment. Things to try:
Spent two hours with customer support today trying to download 2020 PA for them to just tell me that you are not able to download states older than 2 years. This seems completely bogus as I have downloaded older states for decades. Then they directed me to the state website and a paper return. WTF.
Is any of this true? I have just used a customer service provided link for years.
Yes, you can't download state programs from over three years ago. They are not supported, as the Amend window is three years.
