Solution for Windows Installer error 1603 during TurboTax program update?

My state update has worked cleanly, but not the "full" update. I've gone through the suggested steps in the TurboTax help search.

I don't know what the "suggested steps" are. Did you try using the manual update?

Tried the manual update, did not work.  Tried running as Administrator, which is always the case, did not work.  Tried unplugging and then restarting computer, did not work.  Chatted with Microsoft who say it is a program problem with Turbo Tax.  Cannot access TT without the update, why?  Cannot update as long as Error 1603 exists.  Anyone have the real solution?

For me, the manual update worked, so don't have any other possible solution.

Here's How to Turn Off Anti-Virus Programs which may resolve your issue if you can't receive the Updates.  Otherwise, uninstall/reinstall has worked for many users.  Your tax data file will remain intact.
