Software Updates

Is anyone having issues updating the software? I completed both my federal and state returns and when I tried to e file and transmit my returns turbo tax told me that I needed to update the software. When I did that it told me that my software was up to date but I still could not transmit my returns. I am currently using Windows 10 and literally spent 4+ hours on the phone with customer support. We uninstalled, reinstalled, updated, etc..and have to start from scratch again on my returns. I am a bit hesitant to go thru the entire process again only to have the same thing happen. Has this happened to anyone else or does anyone have any advice on how to proceed from here? Thanks.

You may need to update your Windows.   Try that a couple of times.  There maybe an update waiting or stuck.   And reboot your computer.

See this TurboTax support FAQ for Error 1603 - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/product-delivery/error-1603-fatal-error-occurred-installation/L0QVgZpOi_US_en_US?uid=m8m0yjzi

I get the fatal error as well.  When I try to download the update, it seems to be doing nothing and then the green bar comes up as though it's updating and then it goes to the fatal error message.  I've updated my windows, turned off my antivirus protection and tried to update, but that didn't do anything.

If your program says it's up to date or you can't update it then do the Manual Update for Windows

Yep same with me for hours trying to figure it out.

Like you turned virus off, cleared cookies, ran disk clean up .

Nothing helped .

Couldn't get in program since it wouldn't update.

Software this year been one big mess.

I Wished it could be run on an Android.

Plus go back to giving the DVD

They don't show a list of all the updates by dates

So a person can do the one they having issues with.

@Landr42

If you want a CD you can now buy an install CD for $10 AFTER you buy the download and License Code for the version you want. That’s if you don’t want to use the download method or want to reinstall or install it another computer.

The only answer we came up with,  after spending 8 hours on the phone, over 2 days,  with customer service was to totally uninstall the program and then install an entirety new download with a completely new registration number. That worked and I was finally able to complete my returns.

The issue is definitely on their end. Hope they fix it for next year or I will have no choice but to use a different program.
