I am having this problem also - can someone from Intuit tell us when they will fix this bug?

I even already paid for state filing and am now stuck.

I am having same issue with newly downloaded fed and state program from today.

Efile requires update but when you go to Update from Online menu the software is up to date.

I was having the same issue, it was my computer.  I had to shut it off completely, wait 60 seconds then turn it on. Then turbo tax worked just fine.

I spent an hour on the phone with Intuit support on this issue yesterday. In my case the bug is with MA Tax returns. I was able to Transmit Fed Returns successfully but they have an issue with some MA State Tax forms (unless Update loop) - hopefully they will have a fix soon (this MA Patch workaround works for some - but didn't for me: https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-topics/help/there-is-an-update-available-for-your-version-of-turbotax-loop-when-e-filing-windows/00/1116299

I am having the same issue.  I've updated the software several times.  I am not able to file either federal or state return.

The Massachusetts patch (link included in your reply) did not work for me either but I was able just efile the federal return and will file the Mass return when the patch is ready.

I noticed this morning that they updated the Update Patch file yesterday. (new file ends in 1375.msp - old file ended in 1327.msp).  I ran the update and was able to transmit my MA Taxes thereafter!

So if you have't tried the new (1375 version) MA update file yet - you should - you can get it from here: https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/tax-topics/help/there-is-an-update-available-for-your-version-of-turbotax-loop-when-e-filing-windows/00/1116299

Did you try installing the patch released yesterday?  See my post above.

thanks for your response to my problem, but the problem was my computer.  After I shut it down and restarted the program worked just fine.

I am  having the same issue and I restarted my computer, didn't help.  Software update check online shows it is up to date, but when I hit the transmit returns now button, it gives a message that  I need to update my software.  I use Turbotax Premier.  I checked all threads in here, and didn't see any resolution.
