Schedule C (rideshare driver)

I've been doing my taxes with Turbo Tax for 3 years now. For some reason, this year instead of applying the questions I already answered to my Schedule C it is forcing me to fill out a Schedule C worksheet before I can e-file. I've cleared my taxes and started over several times due to this form. For some reason, when I enter that I use "less than 5 at a time" because I drive my own one car to do rideshare it reduces my refund amount to 0 and says that I entered -$20,000 in income. How do I fix this? I just want to file my taxes.

You can try deleting the Schedule C and entering the information following the interview. Enter the income when it asks for it.

Here's the general procedure for viewing the forms list and deleting unwanted forms, schedules, and worksheets in TurboTax Online:

  1. Open or continue your return in TurboTax.
  2. In the left menu, select Tax Tools and then Tools.
  3. In the pop-up window Tool Center, choose Delete a form.
  4. Select Delete next to the form/schedule/worksheet in the list and follow the instructions.

To set up your business:

  1. Open or continue your return.
  2. Search for schedule c and click the Jump to link in the search results.
  3. Answer Yes to Did you have any self-employment income or expenses?
    • If you've already entered self-employment work and need to enter more, select Add another line of work.
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions.

This may help.

Why can't I link my 1099-NEC in TurboTax Online?

When the 1099-NEC is entered on its own before creating a Schedule C, the program is having issues.  If the Schedule C is done first and the 1099-NEC is entered within the Schedule C, then all is good because TT does not have to 'link' it to a Schedule C. However, there are a multitude of other issues in TT related to 1099-NEC that this won't fix -- such as when there are two taxpayers with 1099-NEC.  Ownership of the forms is not being retained correctly.

Thank you for your reply. So what does that mean in the program? I should skip all the income questions and go directly to the vehicle questions? Or is it smarter to just wait to file until the issue is resolved?

Thank you so much! The problem is that it was duplicating the form about vehicle expenses for some reason. I didn't know how to delete a form. That's why I kept starting my entire taxes over. This appears to have solved the issue. I appreciate your help.
