I keep getting the message "BOX 7 is not between the prescribed upper and lower limits" and not allowing to file my taxes.

Yes, the negative number in box 7 is the cause of the error. That amount is foreign taxes paid and should not be negative.

You will need to look in the details of your 1099-DIV, or call the company that issued the form. If $7.60 in foreign tax was paid, it should be entered as a positive number.

We'd love to help you complete your tax return, but need more information. Can you please clarify your question?

Box 7 can be blank, but should not be $0. It cannot be more than box 1a. What numbers are you entering for boxes 1a and 7?

Is the error related to your 1040, or your state tax return?
