Schedule 8812 question

I have been filing as Single for years, and don't even know what is Schedule 8812. For my 2021 filing, during the final review, TurboTax asks me to:

"Check This Entry

Schedule 8812: Advanced payments received must be entered

Advanced payments received __________"

On the Your Personal Info Summary page, Marital Status is Single, Dependents is No dependents, and Filing Status is Single.

Why is Schedule 8812 necessary? I have not received a Letter 6419. Please help me making the B1entry.

Thanks in advance.

You should be able to report zero (0) as advance payments received.

There are some people who DID receive advance payments for dependents the are no longer claiming. These people MAY need to pay back these payments.

To avoid confusion, the program is asking EVERYONE about the payments.

Please report zero.

Schedule 8812 will on your list of forms, but WILL NOT be generated nor included with your filed tax return if it is not applicable to your tax situation.

The color of the B1 entry in the picture is actually blue, instead of pink. Not sure if that matters.

I followed your suggestion, and entered zero for B1. Now the review completes! Thank you very much.

This is the first time Schedule 8812 showed up in my filing. Makes me wonder why I didn't see it in the previous years.
