Save, Filed, then lost all data while using Mac version of TurboTax 2017.

I'm using the TurboTax program locally on my iMac and started my 2017 return a few weeks ago, but had to get a few more forms before I could finish.  I pulled it back up this morning and everything was there and so I finished and filed.  I saved it and even put in a password for the file, then filed the return on-line.

Later the same day, I pulled up the file and it didn't ask me for the password and all the data is gone (starting at $0 again, didn't even know my name or ask for importing last year's return).

How can I check to see if the IRS received a blank return or if the data went through before it decided to dump everything?

What a pain, I've never had this happen in all the years I've been using TurboTax.

I had the exact same problem today. I use Mac (El Capitan). I closed out of Turbotax 2017, and eventually found my .tax2017 file in the /Documents folder. I duplicated that, then opened the one I had found, it had all the entries. I was able to print the returns and archive the digital file. Hope this helps!

Sounds like you completed your return on your TurboTax CD/Download on your computer. Open and continue your return on your TurboTax, and select "file" to Check E-file Status

Follow the instructions here on how to find a tax return file created in TurboTax CD/Download software for Mac: https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/3302441

I met the same problem! And I can find the file but still can not open it!

I searched the hard drive for TurboTax files and never located a current file, so I ended up recreating the return from my paper copy.  It saved the second time like it has always done in the past. Must have just had a one time glitch.
