Hi,
My company went from Public to Private and all RSU got converted to Cash. It looks like W2 include Box 1 includes RSU amount , however, I don't see any info on how much is RSU amount and Box No 14 only shows CA SDI so no RSU amount there.
My company uses Fidelity and I can see 1099 B and all transactions for RSU and I see all transactions and I see lots of have Long Term gains and some of them are reported as short term gain as well.
I see cost basis as 0 for both short and long term. I see values in Proceeds and Gain/Loss in 1099 B so my confusion is
I think company might have reported all proceed as Income and Short term gain so not all gain is short term gain . Any idea what needs to be done as far as Tax is concerned.
Thanks a lot.
Hi,
I did import and I can see 1099 B and all RSU transactions were imported in TurboTax but I don't think it did import Supplimental Information. I see for all 1099 B has two Sections ( Short Transactions) and 1099 Long Transactions Section and Cost Basis in these section show 0
But in Supplimental Info, I again two sections and all of transactions have cost basis as well.
Do I need to manually edit all transactions to add cost basis or there is any easy way to do this since there are about 40 to 50 transactions and TurboTax is giving two options
I will enter one sale at a time
I will enter summary for each sales category
If I choose one sale a time and enter Data Acquired which was missing and Cost Basis ( based on supplimental) but then there are many questions afterwards
Any of these less common screen
and then
Was this a sale of employee stock and there are so many questions ( Yes, this is stock that was acuired through an employee stock plan and No, This is not employee stock
I am confused since this needs to be done for each line item
Any idea on how do I correctly enter info ?
Thanks a lot.
