RMD glitch

As of today 1/28/2025 the RMD problem is not corrected.Specifies RMD amount should not be less than the distribution amount that is for the RMD error. My distribution far exceeds the required RMD on all accounts. This error shows up at the last step and can not be corrected? Therefore my completed taxes can not be sent by Turbo Tax to The IRS. I have paid The Deluxe 2024 fee to Turbo Tax

Please Email Me when this is corrected and my taxes has been sent to the IRS. Thank you

For each and any 1099-R enter the amount withdrawn on that form and say that that exact amount is RMD.

I am having the same problem.   My withdrawal was larger than the RMD amount and Turbo Tax will not send my electronic return.    How long will it take for Intuit to fix this glitch?!!!       I want to file NOW.

In response to ndg42598029:

First:  Are you saying you flunk the Review process, and therefore cannot e-file?  Or are you saying you pass the Review process, but TT nonetheless refuses to e-file?

Second:  Have you tried Bsch4477's workaround, where you simply state that the distribution was all RMD?

I guess I flunked the review process as it kept showing that section as something to review and when I tried to e-file it wouldn't go through.    This morning I used the BRILLIANT IDEA of Bsch4477's and changed the RMD amount to match my actual withdrawal so my e-file went through and file was accepted by IRS.

Thank you Bsch4477!!!

I received another message (not sure who from) that said it is being reviewed and problem will be fixed.   I'm sure there are others out there that take more from IRA than required.

Looks like TT made a change to RMD overnight.  But, they say they are still working on it.

My solution!!  When I entered the amount on form I entered $ and cents.  Turbo Tax rounds the number in my case dropping the cents and then compared the 2 creating the error.  I reentered the number on the form dropping the cents.  It then matched TT and cleared the error!!  Was able to file my taxes then!

Hope the helps!

It is now 2/7/25 and I still can't file my taxes due to RMD glitch.  Can't get past it.

@taxes19511 --

If you withdrew more than your RMD amount, then check the box that says that ALL of your withdrawal was an RMD.

I have tried ALL of the "fixes" recommended here and elsewhere and still cannot get passed this glitch.  When exactly can I expect a real fix from turbotax?  It's quite frustrating!

It is March 6, and I still cannot file because if this glitch. The online help acknowledges this is still an issue.

When will this be fixed? Because in two days I'm just going to use a different program.

If you took your full RMD, you do not have a penalty and your answers should be like one of these scenarios:

Scenario 1

IRA trad $800 distribution, RMD is $800 and all of went to distribution - taxes are right

Scenario 2

Same TIRA $800 distribution - RMD is $600 and not all went to RMD but $600 did - taxes are right

Issue:

Error if you say yes it all went to RMD but the RMD was smaller, must say no and enter amount
