Return rejected and won’t let me change

I filed my return and it was rejected saying someone already claimed one of my dependents, but I didn’t claim either of them when I filed. My wife claims them. So it asks me to fix it and just asks if their socials are correct and that’s it. Their socials are correct but they weren’t claimed by me to begin with. The only thing I can think of is it said that I should have got $2800 for 3rd stimulus check which I got $1400 so it gave me credit for $1400 but before that borrow my dependents we’re marked not claimable. There’s no way to get back to that part though and just asks if socials are correct and they are and then says I should file by mail which I don’t want to do.

If you are not claiming the children, remove them from your return.    Then, go back to the Child Tax Credit interview and go through the screens and enter the amount you received $1400.   Most taxpayers that received money but are not claiming children do not have to pay the advance payment back.

You say that your wife is claiming them.   Do you mean your ex-wife, or are you still married?
