retrieving a file in the desktop version TT 2018

Using my desktop version (Mac) of TT Home and Business, I suddenly today cannot open a file I was working on just a few days ago.  When I try to open the file in "open recent" I get a message saying the file does not exist.  However the file is still clearly visible in Finder.  However right clicking "open with TT" doesn't get any response either.  Am running macOS Catalina 10.15.1 and have been since before last using the file.  No new update to the TT either. I had recently fully reviewed the return and saved as a pdf, and both the TT file and the pdf show up in Finder.  Does the fact of creating the pdf somehow freeze the TT file?  Any help in opening the file will be appreciated.
