Renting a second home while renting OUT first

Hello,

We have a house (on which I pay a mortgage etc.) in Pittsburgh that I am renting out. We now live in Chicago and am renting my primary residence here (IL) as we didn't want to buy a place here without selling the other !

Anyway, can I deduct any portion of my rent payments in Chicago as necessary expenses when calculating rental income from Pittsburgh?

Thanks in advance.

The rent for your Chicago home is not a business expense.  Note that the rental in Pittsburgh will require you to file PA returns even though you don't live there anymore.
